Remote control toy car racing has been popular in neighboring countries like Singapore, Thailand and Taiwan since the 1980s. This game has recently come to Vietnam.
Some toy car racing clubs have been established in big cities like Hanoi and HCM City. In Hanoi, there is a club of this kind, namely Hanoi Racing Club, which has around 40 members, aged from 16-40.
HRC members often meet on Sunday morning at My Dinh National Stadium to race.
HRC’s Nguyen Hung Cuong said all toy cars are imported, priced at least $400/car. They can run at 70-100km per hour. Toy car races require space of around 500sq.m.
This year HRC plans to combine with district-level cultural houses and sports houses to develop this game.
