Hoi An’s ancient quarter is now off-limits to motor vehicles for five days a week, instead of the previous four. A regulation recently issued by the city authorities allows motorbikes and other vehicles to enter the area only on Thursdays and Sundays.

The Hoi An authorities first turned the town’s ancient quarter into a walking-only section over 4 years ago.

Le Van Giang, chairman of Hoi An People’s Committee, said the ancient quarter will be for pedestrians and non-motorised vehicles seven days per week in the near future.

The cake will be 34m long and will be fished out of a (giant) pot at 9am on January 25 (the record is set prior to cooking the cake). The cake-cutting ceremony and prayer for spring luck will be at 7pm on Lunar Year’s Eve on January 25.

This is the fifth time the hotel will break its own record for banh tet.

Dragonair helps promote Viet Nam tourism in Hong Kong

Dragonair will introduce Hong Kong residents to some well-known tourist hot spots in Viet Nam this year, a company representative has said.

Among the list are sightseeing destinations in Da Nang City and Phu Quoc Island in Kien Giang Province.

To make travel more convenient, Dragonair is carrying out a pilot project that will allow Hong Kong passengers to print their own boarding passes. If the move is successful, the company will offer the service at 34 different destinations across the world, including Viet Nam.

Dragonair opened flights from Ha Noi to Hong Kong last October with one flight each day. The flight uses planes with 150 and 170 seats.
